Peanut Paste Meatballs

Peanut Paste Meatballs

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of smooth peanut paste (peanut butter)
  • 1/2 lb (about 220gm) of minced steak
  • 1/4 cup of grated onion
  • A few drops of chilli sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • A sprinkling of pepper
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 tablespoons of peanut oil
  • 1.5 cups of tomato soup
  • 2 tablespoons of commercial BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup of water
Method
  • Mix the peanut paste, mince, onion, chilli sauce, salt, pepper and egg together lightly

  • Form the mix into 12 balls

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan until it's hot, then brown the meatballs. When they're well browned, drain any remaining excess oil from the frypan

  • Combine the soup, BBQ sauce and water, and pour the mixture over the meatballs

  • Cover the frypan with a lid, and simmer the mixture for 30 minutes.

Chris says: This easy recipe will serve two to four people. You can accompany it with a salad or hot vegetables, or serve it on pasta or noodles.

You can also adjust the heat of the meatballs by adjusting the chilli sauce (sweet chilli sauce can be used instead of hot if you prefer)

Tip!
Don't have any peanut paste handy? You can whip some up by putting some raw peanuts in a blender, adding a little peanut oil and blending to the desired consistency. An old-fashioned mincer (or even a mortar and pestle) will also produce a similar result.
